All about me

Originally born in Manchester, I now live in a small village in the Chilterns,UK.

I can often be found painting from life (en plein air) in the Buckinghamshire countryside and local towns, in my studio or anywhere around the world, with my sketch book and paints.

My paintings and sketches are in homes from the Himalayas to Arizona.

Creating art has always been my first love but I doubted if it would pay the bills so I spent most of my working life as a research scientist and industrialist, travelling the world for work and enjoyment.

After a career in materials research and manufacturing, capturing the moment with photography shifted to sketching and then painting from life.

I look at my art work and can totally recall the location, weather, conversations, bird song…the complete memory.  I find it thrilling to be able to capture the moment and then share it with others.

My favourite media are oil, pastel, and sometimes watercolour or gouache whilst travelling.

My inspiration: Everything and anything.

I am proud to be a member of The West Wycombe Art Group.

The following are photos of me sketching a temple in South India, the blue boats of Essaouira, Morocco, The Haymarket in London and receiving 1to1plein air tuition in New Mexico.
